Creamy Sausage Pasta Skillet

Creamy Sausage Pasta Skillet

This pasta dish is simple, perfect for those busy weeknights, and full of flavor! And bonus: it’s made with foods you likely have on hand- just be sure to pick up your veggies and a pack of Gilbert's Sausages!

Ingredients
  • 12 oz. penne pasta
  • a small bunch of asparagus (trimmed/cut into smaller pieces)
  • a few drizzles of olive oil
  • 3- 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 package of Gilbert's Craft Sausages
  • a few large handfuls of cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 4 tbsp butter (divided)
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese (plus more for topping as desired), and seasonings as desired.
Instructions
  1. In a large pot, cook penne as directed on package, adding asparagus during the last 3 minutes of cooking time. Drain and set aside.
  2. Meanwhile, in a large skillet, heat a bit of olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, being careful not to burn.
  3. Next add in sausage. Cook/brown for a few minutes.
  4. Then, add in tomatoes and 2 tbsp butter. Allow tomatoes to start to blister, as you continuously stir everything to meld flavors together (garlic, sausage, tomatoes) in the butter, etc.
  5. Now add in your cooked penne and asparagus. Carefully stir to combine.
  6. Add an additional 2 tbsp butter to pan and a few splashes of water as needed. Cook everything for a few minutes until butter, browned bits in pan and tomatoes create a bit of a sauce and pasta begins to look creamy, as shown.
  7. Finish by adding parmesan cheese to skillet, as well as seasonings as desired (we used Italian seasoning and some finely chopped fresh parsley).
  8. Once plated, top with additional parmesan as desired, serve immediately and enjoy!
