Sausage Pizza Rolls
Sausage Pizza Rolls
Upscale Pigs-in-a-Blanket for family dinner or game night
Ingredients
- 1 (14-oz) package refrigerated pizza dough
- Flour, for dusting
- 1 cup Marinara or pizza sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 Gilbert's Smoked Gouda Chicken Sausages
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425. Line a sheet tray with parchment paper.
- Unroll pizza dough onto a lightly floured work surface. With a rolling pin, gently roll to ¼ inch thickness. Cut dough into quarters and arrange on work surface with long end toward you.
- Spread each pizza dough rectangle with ¼ cup sauce, leaving the top inch of the rectangle free of sauce.
- Sprinkle ½ cup cheese over the sauce.
- Line one Beef & Bleu sausage up with the bottom of the rectangle. Gently roll the rectangle up and press to seal the seam. Pinch the ends together to seal. Place seam-side down on the baking sheet. Repeat with remaining sausages and pizza rectangles.
- Cut three small slashes in the top of each pizza roll, taking care not to pierce the sausages. Brush the dough with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until the pizza rolls are golden brown and bubbly. Cool slightly and cut in half. Serve with additional marinara or pizza sauce for dipping.
