Sausage & Hash Brown Skillet
Sausage & Hash Brown Skillet

Bust out the cast iron skillet and welcome the fall vibes with this hearty breakfast. Makes 3-4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 Gilbert’s Craft Sausage chicken sausage, any flavor (I used Aloha), diced into ½ inch pieces
  • ½ green bell pepper, diced
  • 4 cups frozen shredded hash brown potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive or vegetable oil
  • 2 oz shredded cheese
  • Garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat a large, heavy skillet or cast iron pan over medium heat. Spray with cooking spray and saute diced sausage and peppers until slightly softened and golden, about 4 minutes.Remove from skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet heat oil over medium heat. Add frozen potatoes and season well with salt and pepper. Add a little garlic powder and onion powder plus any other seasonings, as desired.
  3. Cover and allow potatoes to cook in a single layer, undisturbed for about 5-6 minutes.
  4. Add in pepper and sausage, stir, and allow to cook another 5 minutes or so until potatoes are golden and crispy.
  5. Sprinkle skillet with cheese and allow to melt for about 1 minute before serving.
  6. For a complete breakfast, serve with eggs. Enjoy!
